The wait is finally over. Martin Lawrence has confirmed his return as Detective Marcus Burnett in the film “Bad Boys 3.” The actor made the announcement by sharing a picture online.

There has been a lot of talk about the third instalment of the popular cop duo, but there was no confirmation about the return of Lawrence until now. In a post on Instagram [see below] the actor confirmed that there will be another movie from the franchise, and he will be in it.

“It’s official,” Lawrence wrote in the post, along with the title of the upcoming movie. Lawrence will be teaming up with Will Smith (Detective Mike Lowrey) in “Bad Boys for Life.”

There was some indication that Lawrence will be back in the third instalment when he shared a behind-the-scenes picture from “Bad Boys 2” a few days ago. The picture shows Smith discussing a scene while Lawrence listens intently.

“What do y’all think was goin through my head when this picture was taken on the set of #badboys2 ?” Lawrence asked his fans in the post.

“Bad Boys 3” project has been in discussion for a long time now, but it is only now that it seems that everything is in place to start the work. There have been multiple attempts at the script, and the latest draft has been written by Chris Bremner, who is known for his work as a producer for “The Wedding Ringer.”

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will be directing the movie. Production is expected to begin by early 2019. More casting details can be expected in the coming months.

“Bad Boys for Life” is set to be released on Jan. 17, 2020 in the US. The producers are yet to announce a release date for Australia. The plot of the film is currently unknown.
