The mob will be new criminal element in “Arrow” Season 5 that Oliver will have to deal with. In a recent interaction with the press, Executive Producer Wendy Mericle revealed more details about what the viewers can expect to see when the show returns.

[Spoiler alert]

With his team members gone, Oliver (Stephen Amell) will not find any “easy answers” in the next season, Mericle said, Comic Book Resources reports. The producer teased that despite the death of Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), Star City is “not in a great shape.”

Oliver will now have to deal with the mob. As the previous season ended with the protagonist back as the Mayor of the city, he will be fighting the mob in both his official capacity and also as a vigilante.

As the new villain doesn’t have any supernatural powers; the show appears to be getting back to the gritty tone that made it famous. The producer also teased that there will be a call back to the first season in “Arrow” Season 5 with the Bertinellis, and this is said to be a “huge element” this year.

Another aspect of the show is that the people in Star City will be inspired by Oliver and his team, so there will be vigilantes “popping up all over the city.” Some of the vigilantes will also get to join Oliver. The new members of the superhero team include Wild Dog (Rick Gonzalez), The Vigilante (Josh Segarra) and Artemis (Madison McLaughlin).

The producer said that they are excited about the flashbacks in “Arrow” Season 5. The TV series will finally take the viewers to Russia and reveal how Oliver got the tattoo. As far as Olicity is concerned, the producer said that even Oliver and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) don’t know where they are going in their relationship.
