A giant squid measuring four metres made a simple fisherman so famous after having caught it off the shores of Sadogashima Island.

The fisherman named as Shigenori Goto discovered the giant mollusc hanging by his Net on Wednesday when his original aim was to catch an amberjack fish. Independent UK reported that the guy was stunned with what he caught from a spot that is about two thirds of a mile from the coast of the island. "This is the first time I've seen such a large squid," Mr Goto shared to the local media.

The male squid passed away after being taken out from the fisherman's net. It was then brought to a research institute in Niigata for experts to analyse it for further research. Many biological researchers are surely looking forward to discover more of the anatomy of such a bizarre looking creature.

Examiner.com added that the giant squid came with huge eyes, not less than eight arms filled with suckers and all slippery too. It is one odd squid that serves as the type which is included in every fisherman's nightmare for the past decades.

Giant squids can grow up to about 43 feet in total size. The male ones can reach the maximum weight of about 150kg while the female as much as 275kg. During its full maturity, it can grow as lengthy as 30 feet. It has been known in the planet as one of the largest invertebrate on Earth. It comes with a shy nature and lives in mysterious patterns making them a challenge to track.

Yahoo News AU reports that majority of these giant squids are known to live in the deeper parts of the sea. Hence, it is one rare capture for Mr Goto compared to the squid hoax picture that went viral during the previous week. The fake capture came out with a supposed measure of 160 feet, claiming that it was the result of the 2011 meltdown of the nuclear reactor in Fukushima.
