Official Android 5.0 Lollipop is seeding from Google and Motorola to respective smartphones and tablets. For those who haven't downloaded the new software, here are the important things a user should know about.

Motorola Official Android 5.0 Lollipop Release

Motorola confirmed the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for several smartphones starting from late 2014 until next year. Both Moto X and Moto G are receiving the newest Android OS from the company with respective models Moto X second generation Pure Edition, Moto G second generation GSM variant and Moto G second generation Global GSM retail variant sold in the United States. Android 5.0 Lollipop contains the following features from Motorola:

- Material Design user interface which brings more visual style, improved touch screen response and better typography.

- User-controlled Notifications Centre with "Downtime" and "Interruption" settings to decide specific contacts and apps sending notifications at specific times.

- Guest Mode user account to let other people borrow the device without worrying about privacy issues.

- New flashlight toggle found in the Quick Settings at the Status Bar.

- Native battery saver that features estimated time left before charging again, estimated time left to fully charge and optimisation of battery life by reducing performance and most background data operations.

Motorola is still developing the official Android 5.0 firmware for Moto E, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, Droid Mini and other variants of Moto X and Moto G. No official release dates have been announcement by the company.

Google Android 5.0 Lollipop Release For Nexus Devices

Android 5.0 Lollipop is official seeding among Nexus devices around the world via wireless update but can also be installed manually using factory images by users with advanced knowledge in Android firmware installation. Android 5.0 factory images are available at Google Developer website supporting the following Nexus models:

1. LG Nexus 4 Occam: LRX21T version.

2. LG Nexus 5 Hammerhead: LRX210 version.

3. ASUS Nexus 7 2012 Wi-Fi Nakasi: LRX21P version.

4. ASUS Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi Razor: LRX21P version.

5. HTC Nexus 9 Wi-Fi Volantis: LRX21Q version.

6. Samsung Nexus 10 Mantaray: LRX21P version.

Factory images of Android 5.0 Lollipop for both ASUS Nexus 7 2012 and 2013 mobile models are still unavailable at this time. Android 4.4.4 KitKat KTU84P is the current and latest available factory images for Nexus 7 2012 and 2013 mobile variants.

Features included on the Android 5.0 Lollipop for Nexus devices are Material Design user interface, notifications on the lock screen, native battery saver with extended usage mode, Android smart lock and OpenGL ES 3.1 for improved mobile graphics. Android Runtime is the default engine for apps to boost performance while SELinux security implementation increases protection against vulnerabilities and malware attacks.
