According to a report by The Sun, the late singer told close friends before she died that her ex, Blake Fielder-Civil, is "the only one who can save" her from drug and alcohol addiction.

The singer's troubled ex, who was described "inconsolable" after hearing the tragic news, might have been the key to prevent the untimely passing of Winehouse. It has been reported that just a week before Amy's death, the singer confessed to friends that Fielder-Civil is the only one who can "save" her from the hard battle against drugs and alcohol. Winehouse and Fielder-Civil's relationship started when the pair met two years before getting married in 2007. The pair's interest on drugs and alcohol was very public, and it was even said that the two "enabled" each other when it came to using drugs. The two divorced in 2009, after a shaky relationship filled with controversy and lewd acts, including a stint where the singer carved "Blake" on her stomach during a performance using a shard of broken glass.

Fielder-Civil, who's currently incarcerated for theft and gun charges, spoke yesterday about the sudden death of his ex. "Everybody who knew me and knew Amy knew the depth of our love. I can't believe she's dead", says Fielder-Civil in a report by The Sun. Although family and friends are pressing that Civil-Fielder shouldn't blame himself, the singer's ex is still "devastated and shattered". Fielder-Civil's current partner, Sarah Aspin, talked to The Sun about how she perceived Blake and Amy's relationship. "Blake is the father of our son. But I saw him and Amy together and I know they were really in love and they were soulmates" says Aspin in the same The Sun report.

Aspin adds that Fielder-Civil and Winehouse's drug fueled relationship became too much of a problem. "She always loved him and he always loved her - but it was just never going to work," added Aspin in the post. Aspin also claims that since she gave birth to their son Jack, Amy just "couldn't take it". "Basically they couldn't live with each other and they could not live without each other. It is hard for me knowing he still loved her, but I do understand his feelings" continues Aspin in the same report.
