“American Idol” 2015 had a second Top 11 week as the judges decided to use their singular “save” in Season 14 to keep Qaasim Middleton in the competition. Clark Beckham, Jax and Adanna Duru gave three of the best performances in Episode 21 (Movie Night), which aired Thursday, Mar. 19, on Fox.

“American Idol” 2015’s Clark Beckham took on a Maroon 5 hit, “Sunday Morning” (from “Cheaper by the Dozen 2”) and showed a more sensitive, romantic side to match his gorgeous vocals. Jax lent her chic and modern style to Adam Sandler’s “Grow Old With You” (from “The Wedding Singer”).

Adanna Duru sang Jennifer Hudson’s “Love You I Do” (from “Dreamgirls) and got widely compared to “American Idol” 2012 runner-up Jessica Sanchez, who also took on the same song on Idol stage with her growling vocals. What matters, however, is that Adanna was among the best in AI Season 14 Movie Night.

Singing Gary Jules' "Mad World" (from “Donnie Darko”), Joey Cook also got compared to another runner-up, Adam Lambert of “American Idol” Season 8. (Adam drew a standing ovation from Idol judge Simon Cowell at the time.) Joey’s haunting rendition may be less powerful, but it still was among the most memorable of the night.

Qaasim got the lowest number of votes after the “Get the Party Started” show a week ago. He took on “Come Together” by The Beatles (from the movie “Across the Universe”) and spun it around with his own showmanship, hoping Idol judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick, Jr. would save him.

Harry said Qaasim’s number was “arguably the best” on “American Idol” 2015 Movie Night. The judge then followed it up with a granted “save,” saying Middleton deserved it. Below are some clips from the verified AI page on YouTube.

Toward the end of the Mar. 19 episode, Idol host Ryan Seacrest announced the show is returning to its Wednesday programming next week. Two contestants will go home on Mar. 26, leaving the “American Idol” 2015 Top 9 to hope for votes for another week.
