FX has renewed its popular horror anthology series, "American Horror Story," for a fifth season. Ryan Murphy, co-creator of the show, has said that he has figured out the story of Season 5. Also, he is discussing the roles with the actors.

It is not confirmed whether veteran actress Jessica Lange will return to star in Season 5 of "American Horror Story." The actress had said that Season 4 would be her last season of "American Horror Story." Recently in an interview, Murphy said that if he presents Lange with the "right character," the actress is likely to stay. Rest of the original cast members such as Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates are expected to star in Season 5.

"The American Horror Story anthology has had the highest growth trajectory of any show in FX history, not to mention an unprecedented track record of success in awards recognition," John Landgraf, CEO at FX, said in a statement. He gave the credit for the success of the series to Murphy and his team consisting of Brad Falchuk, Dante Di Loreto and Tim Minear.

"AHS continues to deliver amazing stories, a brilliant troupe of actors led by Jessica Lange, and a visual style unlike any other on TV, Landgraf said, adding, "We expect AHS: Freak Show and the next incarnation of AHS to further his legacy."

"American Horror Story" Season 4, which is subtitled "Freak Show," premiered on Oct. 08. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show beat the record of "Sons of Anarchy" to become the most watched telecast in FX history. The report says that 10 million total viewers -- 6.54 million in adults 18-49 and 4.08 million among adults 18-34 -- tuned in to watch "Monsters Among Us."

Meanwhile, Murphy has said that the clues about Season 5 are there in the first two episodes of "American Horror Story-Freak Show." He said to Entertainment Weekly, "I figured out season 5 very early on and I know that the fans love that. So there are clues that are dropped."

The fans are speculating that Season 5 may have something to do with space. Murphy has said that they are not doing space, as "space is not America."

"American Horror Story" Season 5 is likely to premiere in Oct. 2014.
