'American Gods' episodes

The episode before "Git Gone" was "Head Full of Snow," which aired on May 14. It was written by Michael Green and Bryan Fuller and directed by David Slade. It showed Mr. Jacquel (Anubis) visiting a Muslim woman. He informs her that she already died and that she must come with him. They go to a desert where he rips her heart out and checks to see if she was a good or bad person. She was deemed a good person and was allowed to enter the Duat. According to ancient Egyptian mythology, the Duat is the realm of the dead where the deity Osiris and other gods reside.

Meanwhile, Shadow dreamt of one of the Zorya sisters who gave him a kiss and a silver coin while he was sleeping in Chicago. When Shadow woke up, he had to convince Czernobog to play with him again. Lucky for him he won this time. Unfortunately, Czernobog told him that he'll still hit him with his hammer once they arrive in Wisconsin.

The episode also showed Shadow's meeting with Mad Sweeney and his ability to conjure up snow by merely thinking of it. Plus, Ifrit was introduced as an Omani businessman named Salim (Omid Abtahi). Shadow also scammed money using a closed automated teller machine (ATM). Towards the end of the episode, Shadow went inside his motel room and was shocked to see Laura alive and waiting for him there.
