Air rage incidents that result in offloading of unruly passenger, like actress Selma Blair, are often the result of intoxication. In the case of a Thailand-bound Jetstar flight, it was six drunk passengers who broke into a fight.

Before it could reach on Wednesday tourist haven Phuket, Flight JQ27 had to be diverted to another tourist paradise, Bali in Indonesia, to offload the six unruly air travelers, reports Sydney Morning Herald. The six were travelling together, but because of their alcohol intake, they became extremely disruptive.

The crew requested the six to settle down, but they refused. The situation led to the plane making an unexpected detour to Bali where the combative passengers were turned over to Indonesian police. “We take safety and security seriously and we don’t tolerate disruptive behaviour by passengers on our flights,” Jetstar said in a statement.

The budget air carrier said the other travelers supported Jetstar’s decision to offload the rowdy group in Bali, and the passengers thanked the cabin crew. The six would be flown back to Sydney on Thursday, July 21, reports Today.

The plane left Sydney at 2:25 pm and arrived in Phuket at 11:15 pm, over two hours delayed because of the air rage incident. The diversion to Bali made the 8- to 9-hour trip to Phuket an 11-hour flight, reports Huffington Post. Jetstar is used to handling air rage incidents like what happened aboard Flight JQ27.
