Hollywood stars Matt Damon and Sarah Michelle Gellar were among the celebrities who took to social media their remembrance of the late actor and comedian Robin Williams.

On Reddit, Damon described Williams as “one of the most generous, loving, wonderful people I've ever met” during an “Ask Me Anything” chat with fans on the social media site.

Damon co-starred with Williams in the 1997 film “Good Will Hunting,” which won for Williams an Oscar award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in 1998. Meanwhile, Damon, together with Ben Affleck, won the Golden Globe award for Best Screenplay for the same movie.

During the chat, Damon recounted how Williams would effortlessly cheer up the movie’s cast by making fun of the crew.

“Working with Robin almost defies description. He had this capacity that I've never seen on a movie set. When everyone started to get tired and started to flag a little bit, he would launch into standup,” he wrote in reply to a fan inquiry.

“It was like 15 minutes of the best stand-up ever that was just privately for us. Everyone would laugh and laugh and laugh and then everybody would get this boost of energy and go back to work.”

Damon said he is grateful for having worked with Williams, who had changed his life for the better.

“I'll never be able to thank him enough for what he gave us. In my heart, that's where he is, as this person that I'm deeply deeply grateful came into my life and changed it for the better,” he added.

Meanwhile, Gellar posted photos to pay tribute to the life that Williams led before commiting suicide on Aug. 11, 2014. The actess worked with Williams on “The Crazy Ones” sitcom.

Unlike William’s co-actors and fans, his daughter Zelda decided to go on a social media hiatus just before “that time of the year.”

“I will be taking another break off social media,” her Instagram post read. “For those who always ask why, it is so people can memorialize Dad on the anniversary of his death however they wish without me having to feel bombarded by it or pressured by the expectation put on myself or my family.”

TTFN! ❤ ️ (And sorry for the TL;DR _)

The younger Williams encouraged fans of her father to celebrate his life by supporting the causes he advocated, naming charities like the Reeve Foundation and CA Foundation.
