1. White rice

This is a type of whole rice grain which has been polished until only the endosperm is left. Studies proved that eating white rice regularly can increase one’s chances of having diabetes by up to 11%. RD, Sandy Andrews of William Sansum Diabetes Center in Santa Barbara, California, said that anything with white flour must be avoided by diabetics.

2. Blended coffees

Diabetics must steer clear from blended coffees because they’re loaded with sugar. Aside from this culprit it also contains syrup, whipped cream and a choice of toppings. It is also high in calories and fats which make it no better than drinking milkshakes.

3. Bagels

People who want to lose weight used to love bagels so much because of their claim of having no-fat or low-fat content. However, this is the main reason why they’re bad for diabetics. Bagels are made mostly of refined flours which can cause your insulin level to spike up.

4. French fries

Did you know that a large serving of fries contains 25 grams of fat, 63 grams of carbs, and a whopping 500 calories? This is why french fries are a no-no to people suffering from diabetes. The American Diabeted also reminded people to skip starchy foods like potatoes with additives like fat or sodium.

5. Energy bars

Don’t be misled by these products claiming to be healthy when in fact they’re loaded with sugar. A bar alone has a glycemic index of up to 49 which is more than a king-size Snickers. Most energy bars contain 60 grams of carbohydrates and calories amounting to 450.
