Demi Lovato’s fellow judge on X-Factor USA, Simon Cowell has gone on record and admitted that Season 2 of the Fox’s reality show bombed, promising that America and the world will see a whole lot of different “unexpected” moments in the new season.

Comparing the show’s last season to a “dinner party [that] gone wrong," Cowell explained why he thought it didn’t work.

“You invite people for dinner and sometimes it’s a fun night and other times it’s not as fun as you thought it was going to be. Season three is a fun dinner party,” the soon-to-be-dad said, according to the Highlight Press. It wasn’t really the company he had at that time that killed it, noted Simon.

He reiterated, “It was more of a feeling it was similar to what everyone else was doing and I had this impatience to get on to season three so I could do what I wanted to do.”

And for this, “The X-Factor USA” promised whole new things not always done by most reality shows. This include, having three female judges and one thorn among the roses. No show on television has done the three female and one male dynamics as of yet.“I feel really comfortable with the girls and I think it’s going to be the best show we’ve made so far,” Simon also said.

“It’s got an energy about it this year which has been lacking before. So, I’m confident. We said at the time, ‘It’s a girls’ world at the moment in the music business’. We thought the panel should reflect it. And Simon continued by recalling how it was like when they first spoke to the new panel.

He said, “Most importantly, when we sat down and spoke to the panel, it was really, ‘How passionate are you about doing this job properly, working with the artist properly and actually trying to find a star at the end?’”

The "X-Factor USA" premieres on Fox from Sept. 2-3, 2013. Simon is joined by three female judges, Demi Lovato, Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio.
