“Neighbours” recap

On Wednesday, Paige was ecstatic that John finally acts on his feelings towards her. She invited him over to her house for dinner. When they parted ways, John saw Julie Quill and it seemed like he recognised her. Before he could think about it any further, he received a call from Mark, asking him to go to the police station.

At the station, Mark informed John that he lost his alibi – Wendy confessed about lying. Mark showed him a photo of a person and immediately, it triggered John’s memory. John told Mark about an address that he recalled and constables were immediately sent to that location. Shortly after, Mark told John that the police found his ID at that particular place.

Meanwhile, Ben and Xanthe were put on the hot seat when Gary told Karl and Sheila that the two teens were at Lassiters at the day of the explosion and that they stole Tom Quill’s money. Xanthe thought Gary would help them, but instead, her dad recommended going to the police straightaway. Karl and Sheila agreed. Later, all of them except Gary trudged to the station and told Mark about Ben and Xanthe’s wrongdoing. Mark was stunned to hear that the two teens were at the hotel at the day of the explosion. When Mark showed them a photo of a person that he asked John to identify earlier, Ben said he saw him at the back entrance of the hotel before the explosion.

There was an emotional moment over at the Lassiters when a plaque was unveiled to honor Josh and Doug in front of their family and loved ones. Later, at the public re-opening of the hotel, Lauren looked upset as Brad preferred to stand beside Terese and Piper than her. She earlier told Paige that despite his promise to forgive her, it looked like he’s not ready to move on from the kiss scandal with Ned. The event was in for a more dramatic moment, however. As Sonya prepared to cut the ceremonial ribbon, Mark and some policemen arrived and arrested Julie. It turned out that the photo Mark showed both John and Ben was of Jacka. When Mark invited him for questioning, Jacka revealed about Julie’s involvement.

At the station, Julie was livid for being taken away from her event. She started to threaten Mark for damaging her reputation, but stopped short when she saw Jacka. She realised that he ratted her out. She was even more stunned to see John at the interview room. Inside the interrogation room, Mark confronted Julie about her motives and accused her of paying someone to cause the explosion and to cover her tracks. He also informed him that Wendy already confessed about being bribed to lie about John. Jacka, meanwhile, said in a sworn statement that Julie offered to pay him to damage the boiler and frame Paul. Mark’s biggest revelation was that there’s a credible witness who tied all the loops together: John. Backed in a corner, Julie confessed to everything.

Elsewhere, people were talking about Julie’s arrest and wondered whether Paul was innocent after all. Terese and Brad shared this thought, too, and began to consider that perhaps they were wrong to accuse Paul of being involved.

At home, Paige was busy preparing a romantic dinner for her and John, when Mark appeared at her doorstep. He asked her to come to the police station and she agreed, worried about John. There, Paige finally found out who John really was – he’s a priest.
