The third season of "Mr Robot" is sure to come and it is expected to centre on the life of Rami Malek, (Elliot Alderson) and his mental health issue. Show creator and executive producer Sam Esmail hinted about the storyline for the next instalment, saying the show is all about the lead character’s emotional journey.

Esmail was firm that the series would revolve around Elliot. "I've said it before and I'm going to continue saying it, this is at heart about Elliot's emotional journey," he told HitFix.

The show creator has also talked about the long delusion of the series’ main character. He described Elliot’s hallucination of living in his childhood home not as a "gotcha" moment for the viewers. Next season, it looks like Elliot will continue to deal with his internal struggle.

Mr Robot (Christian Slater) is bound to stay. Elliot has tried to get rid of him but has failed. The lead character wanted to free his mind from his imaginary father because he feels like he is in prison, rather than at home. And it seems that the reason for his failure was because Mr Robot is an inextricable part of him now. "That’s what Elliot has to do: see that vision of the future he wants that’s worth going through all of this for. Not only does he want to live and continue, but he realises that fighting Mr Robot is a moot point and an impasse," Esmail told Deadline.

Moreover, the show creator has revealed that even before the show returns to the small screens for its third season, he already has an outline of how the fourth and fifth seasons of the show would look. Esmail hopes that "Mr Robot" seasons 4 and 5 will be granted. He clarified that he does not know all the details yet but he already has an idea of the big plots. Although he is hoping for more seasons of the show, Esmail revealed that he already has an ending in mind.

In the series, Malek plays Elliot, a hacker who suffers from a dissociative identity disorder. He would imagine his late father, Mr Robot as the vehicle for his cyber-criminal activity.

The series also stars Martin Wallström (Tyrell Wellick), Stephanie Corneliussen (Joanna Wellick) and Michael Cristofer (Phillip Price) among others. Season 2 aired on Showcase in Australia. There are reports that the third season will premiere in June or in May but release date for season 3 is yet to be officially confirmed. Official air date for the third season is expected to be announced in the near future.
