Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard) seems ready to start a new chapter of her life but networks are not as friendly as fans might have expected. “Girl Meets World” is still homeless after the show’s last episode on Disney Channel titled “Girl Meets Goodbye.”

Show co-creator Michael Jacobs is still finding a new home for the series. He is hoping that another network will pick the show up and be its saviour for more episodes. But as of this writing, no network has officially expressed its willingness to adopt the show yet.

In a conversation with the Wrap, Jacobs has expressed his thoughts about the cancellation of the show in its home network. It is something that he understood but he admitted that he would be happier if the show was renewed for season 4. The showrunner is not done with the story of Riley and her friends yet as they still have more stories to tell.

“I do not think 'Girl' should have been cancelled. We signed to do four seasons,” Jacobs said. He thought that the story would last for four seasons. “The decision to not option a fourth season of 'Girl Meets World' was made after careful consideration of many factors,” Disney Channel clarified in a statement. The network said it was happy that it was able to deliver more that 70 episodes of the show.

Since the official confirmation from Disney Channel, fans have had high hopes that the show would be picked up by Hulu or Netflix. The possibility of the series being picked up by a different network has been confirmed by the showrunner. “We are certainly having discussions, there are some interested platforms,” Jacobs said.

He is positive that the show’s ultimate fate will be known in a few months. “I don’t think this thing can go on three or four months without a decision,” he said. “I think it will be sooner rather than later,” Jacobs told the Wrap. Shall the television series be saved, the showrunner believes that the cast will be on board as they have developed a strong relationship.

Jacobs has also hinted about the storyline for a possible season 4. He said it would be about what happens to the characters as they grow up in this world. Jabobs clarified that he does not intend to go absolutely crazy with license to tell extreme and severe stories. “Girl Meets World” aired in Australia through Disney Channel.
