“Girl Meets World” was officially cancelled by Disney Channel, but fans and show co-creator Michael Jacobs are hoping that it will not be the ultimate fate of the series. Jacobs is grateful that the show has reached three seasons on Disney but admitted that he would be so much happier if the series did not stop at season 3.

The show co-creator seemed to accept that the show might have outgrown the venue. Disney Channel is a kids-focused network and since the characters of “Girl Meets World” are growing, the venue might not be suitable for mature content.

“I had hoped to run at Disney Channel for four years but realised many shows stop after three, and our cast and the natural stories to tell might have outgrown the venue, so I wrote the last episodes of the season with some closure just in case,” he said. Jacobs said that the last thing he wanted for the show is to leave over 200 episodes of a franchise unfinished.

But it seems the “Girl Meets World” co-creator is hopeful that a different network will come and save the show. Although he wanted the final episode of “Girl Meets World” to look like a decent possible finish line, he has opted to leave some obvious space to keep going. That’s something he hopes fans have noticed.

The final episode of “Girl Meets World,” titled “Girl Meets Goodbye,” has seen Topanga (Danielle Fishel) dealing with an important life decision. She had a chance to move the family to London for a job offer but that would also mean leaving their friends behind.

“Girl Meets Goodbye” has seen the biggest reunion of “Boy Meets World” cast. They helped Topanga decide and the latter had chosen to stay. Other beloved characters of the series also include Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard), Cory (Ben Savage), Sabrina Carpenter (Maya), Kermit (David Thomas Jenkins) and Katy (Cheryl Texiera) along others. Jacobs said he thinks the cast will be on board for season 4.

So far, no network has confirmed that it will pick the show up for another season. But Jacobs assured fans that he is trying to find a new home for the franchise. “I’m making an attempt to find a home for an evolution of the franchise,” he told Deadline. The show’s ultimate fate is likely to be revealed in the near future. “Girl Meets World” aired in Australia through Disney Channel.
