The “Harry Potter” spinoff “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is slated to be released in November 2016. Producer David Heyman gave an update about how the development of the movie is progressing and also complemented J.K. Rowling for her work.

“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is still in the early days of the pre-production phase. David Heyman spoke to Collider about the movie and also some of his other projects.

J.K. Rowling, who is the author of the book on which the movie is based on, is apparently still writing the script of the movie. David Heyman stated that there isn’t any start date for the production of the movie to commence.

Talking about continuing the “Harry Potter” legacy, the producer said that all the cast and crew can really do is do the best they can by telling stories with characters that audience of any age will be able to relate to. He also complemented J.K. Rowling for her “incredible imagination” in “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.”

David Heyman added that it was “lovely” to be back in the wizarding world once again. He has been the producer of all the eight previously released “Harry Potter” movies. “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” however, will not be featuring the characters from the previous movies and will be based 70 years before Ron and Hermione stepped into the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Speaking about the casting for “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” to Peter Hall of Movies website, David Heyman pointed out that there were still many talented British actors who can be cast in the upcoming movie and that the country has “many great actors.” The producer revealed that he still meets people who tease him about not casting them in one of the “Harry Potter” movies.

“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” is set in New York, as the protagonist Newt Scamander visits the city in the movie. David Heyman also noted that the upcoming movie will have cast members from the U.S. “The British parts will be British and then we'll mix it up where we need to,” the producer explained.
