World Wrestling Entertainment, or WWE, former talent Shawn Michaels figured in a rare interview during the latest podcast of Between the Ropes to discuss the possibility of giving it one more go in the ring. He opened up in particular with facing fan favourite, Daniel Bryan, who he had a chance to interact in October 2013.

Michaels was on hand to discuss his new book, “Wrestling for My Life: The Legend, the Reality and the Faith of a WWE Superstar” and touched up on subjects including how WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was critical of the way he dresses, his feud with Brett “The Hitman” Hart and the chances of a comeback. He addressed the Bryan match given that he was sort of a mentor to the founder of the “Yes! Movement,” and said that while the format has been done before it would still be an interesting concept.

“That’s teacher – student, that’s been done, and again I’m not knocking it, I’m just saying that is not some kind of new, innovative idea. It’s just two other guys doing a very rehashed idea but we think they can do it well so it will be fun for us to watch,” Michaels told Between the Ropes (via Business2Community).

Michaels’ last match happened way back in Mar. 28, 2010 at Wrestlemania XXVI against The Undertaker. The Heartbreak Kid left the ring for good due to match stipulations, coming in full circle with the way he retired Hall of Famer Ric Flair. On the following night at Raw, Michaels had his closure when he addressed his legion of fans and left with his signature announcement of “Shawn Michaels has left the building.”

Now that he is active again with his new book and his recent appearance at the Chris Jericho podcast, talks of his return to the WWE have resurfaced. Michaels has been gracious to say that there have been lots of offers and yet is not shutting the door on a ring return including a hyped match at a future pay-per-view event against Bryan. Michaels said that he saw a lot in himself in Bryan given that they were both fighters who lacked size.

He shared that during his early days in the WWE and dating back to the 1980s the company suggested a finishing move that would make a smaller fighter toppling a bigger one believable. This gave birth to the double drop kick made famous by the Rockers and later on evolved to the super kick which was punctuated by the stomping of the foot prior to delivering the crucial blow.
