Christmas has come early for old-school wrestling fans, as the upcoming “Legends Pack” for “WWE 2K16” now has a release date. The “Legends Pack” will come out on Dec. 22 and will feature six new characters for the players to use in the game.

As can be seen in the image above, the legends are Trish Stratus, Lita, Big Boss Man, Mr. Perfect, Roddy Piper and Dusty Rhodes. Fans who purchased the season pass will get it immediately, while those who want it as an individual purchase can buy the pack for US$8.99 (AU$12.49), as noted by Attack of the Fanboy.

This downloadable content (DLC) pack is quite timely, as two of the legends that will be available – Dusty Rhodes and Roddy Piper – passed away earlier this year. It was a big blow to the WWE and its fans, so getting the opportunity to use the two legends in the game could be an emotional one for players.

Including Lita and Trish Stratus was an interesting move on the part of the developers, as both female wrestlers were fan favourites during their tenures with the company. Both wrestlers have already been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, showing how much of an impact the two made in the organisation. They were the first two women to be in the main event of a Monday Night Raw episode.

Mr. Perfect and Big Boss Man round up the legends, who were both prominent players in the 1980s and 1990s. Mr. Perfect had plenty of stellar matches in his career, one of the best being his battle with Bret Hart in SummerSlam. The Boss Man was an early fan favourite in the 1980s with his policeman gimmick, and he was able to reinvent himself as an abusive security enforcer during the “Attitude Era.”

Fans can expect a few new moves to come with these legends. The DLC pack will be available on Dec. 22 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360, courtesy of the game’s official website. Additionally, the third patch was released a few days ago, adding immediate support for the Legends Pack.
