George RR Martin hasn’t completed “Winds of Winter” yet, but the author confirmed that he is hard at work to finish the book. Speaking at the red carpet during the Emmy awards function, the author talked about the book and how busy he is with all the other projects that he is working on currently.

It was another big day for “Game of Throne” at the Emmy awards, but the fans of the book series will be more concerned about how long they will have to wait for the next instalment of “A Song of Ice and Fire” series. Speaking with TheHollywoodReporter, Marin said that he wishes the book had been out four years ago, and he conceded that he is a slow writer.

One of the reasons why the book is taking so long may have to do with the numerous plots and sub-plots that Martin has created. The author teased that the book is “very complex.”

There may be some added pressure for Martin to deliver an engaging book after “Game of Thrones” spoiled some of the storylines. It remains to be seen just how different the remaining books will be from what was featured in the TV series.

There are a lot of distractions that can take Martin away from writing, the author said, but he has tried to limit these distractions. The author didn’t even go to the filming sets of “Game of Thrones,” even though they filmed the very last season of the show.

Martin does take some time off to enjoy himself from time to time, and was reportedly seen enjoying the Emmy after party till after midnight.

On the bright side, Martin said that he is “making progress” n “Winds of Winter.” The author didn’t tease just how much of the book is still left, and when he hopes to announce the release date.
