How will things turn out for Lord Varys (Conleth Hill) in “Winds of Winter” and towards the end of “A Song of Ice and Fire”? A few fans have come up with theories.

Some of the character's storyline may have been revealed in the “Game of Thrones” TV series. But things may not be the same in the books, as George RR Martin may have a few surprises for Varys.

In a Reddit discussion, fans look at what’s in store for the character best known as The Spider, a name he got for the information network he has built over the years throughout Westeros and beyond. One fan even suggests that while his storyline may not turn out exciting in the TV show, the books could still keep fans engaged.

One fan suggests that towards the end, Varys will take out the Iron Throne, the gods, and magic itself in one full sweep. However, he will also die doing all these for the realm.

Not all magic is bad, but given Varys’ traumatic experience as a child, it is understandable for him to try and destroy such things for the better world he is trying to build for the people. The leader he has chosen for this new world is Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), who has promised to “break the wheel” of power that different Houses are using to stay on top as people suffer.

Will Varys succeed in what he's trying to do? Will he sacrifice his life for what he believes in? How will he die in the books? These are questions that can be answered only when Martin finishes “Winds of Winter,” then releases it.

The author has promised to announce the completion of the book on his blog. At the moment, he has decided to stay away from blogging to focus on finishing the book and the other projects he's working on. His staff, meanwhile, has taken over the social media duties.
