There is a fresh new conqueror coming to Westeros in "Winds of Winter." Fans of the popular book series speculate as to who will support this new conqueror. One strong candidate, according to the fans, is Mathis Rowan. [Warning: Spoiler Alert!]

Aegon Targaryen has reached the shores of Westeros. His forces have landed on the property of House Baratheon and he is looking for allies to aid his cause. Mathis Rowan is currently at Storm's End, besieging the castle there. With most of the Tyrell forces having left with Mace Tyrell, Mathis has a much smaller force to confront Aegon. Will Mathis be forced to bend the knee to Aegon?

Switching sides is not new to Mathis Rowan. According to some of the fans of the book series at Westeros forum, Mathis may choose to support Aegon. There are a couple of reasons why this may happen; the first being that it may not be practical to fight with Aegon with a smaller force that is worn out in the siege. His House was also once one of the most loyal to House Targaryen.

Lord Mathis also has cause to be displeased with the Lannisters. Although many prominent figures believe him to be a good candidate for the position of Hand of King, Cersei Lannister removed him from the Small Council of the king. Will Mathis side with Aegon in "Winds of Winter"?

Mathis Rowan serves the Tyrells, who were also once loyal to House Targaryen. The head of House Tyrell, Mace, is also not pleased with the Lannisters. Cersei Lannister has been exposed to be the mastermind behind the plot to get Mace's daughter, Margaery, arrested. With Kevan Lannister dead, Mace is the most prominent figure to be the regent, but the Lannisters may not allow that to happen.

Dorne is still loyal to the House Targaryen and they are looking for ways to oppose the Lannisters. If the Tyrells support Aegon Targaryen, the whole of the region in the south will be under him with the next target being King's Landing. Was Aegon right to leave his aunt Daenerys and her dragons and reach Westeros first? Who will support him in "Winds of Winter"? Please leave your comments below.
