“Vikings” season 4 episode 13 shows that following the shipwreck Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and Ivar (Alex Hogh) survive but most of their men do not.

Ragnar and Ivar kill their fellow Vikings

When Ivar is trying to be normal, Lothbrok throws away his leg brace and tells him that he is not normal. “You never will be. Once you realize that, that is when greatness will happen. Now crawl,” he tells him.

While they are hiding in the woods, Lothbrok for the first time admits in “Vikings” season 4 episode 13 that he has no plans of returning to his homeland. He tells Ivar that they cannot survive with their friends. In order to simplify their slip, they both kill their fellow Vikings while they are sleep.

Prince Aethelwulf and King Ecbert discovers Ragnar’s presence

In Wessex, it doesn’t take Prince Aethelwulf (Moe Dunford) much time to discover that Ragnar has arrived. He tells his father King Ecbert (Linus Roache) about the same after discovering a small group of Vikings slaughtered. However, the King is more interested in his forthcoming trip to Repton. Aethelwulf and his men start searching for Lothbrok and successfully arrest them both in “Vikings” season 4 episode 13.

Bjorn strikes deal with Uncle Rollo

Bjorn on his journey to Mediterranean is remembering the old times when his father was a farmer and Uncle Duke Rollo (Clive Standen) was a family friend and not a traitor. He is worried if Uncle Rollo will let him pass without attacking him. When they arrive on his land, Bjorn and Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård) try to make a deal with them.

King Harald and his brothers are not happy that Bjorn is seeking help from Rollo. Meanwhile, Black (Jasper Paakkonen) interrogates Bjorn about his captivity while he remains calm in hopes that his uncle will support his squad. Fortunately, Rollo is ready to lend a hand and even explains to Bjorn the route to the Mediterranean. However, he lays out one condition. He wants to join him on his journey. Bjorn’s wife doesn’t approve of it but Bjorn does and so Rollo gets to be a Viking once again.

Lagertha declares war against Aslaug

In “Vikings” season 4 episode 13, Lagertha is seen preparing her warriors for the battle. She wants to take Kattegat back from Aslaug as she is not fit to be the queen, she tells Astrid (Josefin Asplund). Furthermore, she doesn’t want Aslaug’s sons to take the throne and hence, declares the battle.

Meanwhile, Torvi (Georgia Hirst) hatches a plan with Margrethe (Ida Marie Nielsen) and captures Aslaug’s boys rather than attack them. Thereafter, Lagertha leads her army into Kattegat to battle against Aslaug, who takes a sword and leaves the throne room like a warrior.

“Vikings” season 4 episode 13 aired on December 14. “Vikings” season 4 episode 14 will return on the small screen on December 21 at 9PM ET. “Vikings” season 4 is scheduled to air in Australia on SBS One from January 11 at 8:30PM.
