The latest episode of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 6 featured the exit of vampire hunter character Jeremy Gilbert. The CW Network recently released a video of actor Steven R. McQueen’s last day on the Atlanta set of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 6 where the cast and crew said their goodbyes.

In the video, the TVD cast members dressed up as the superhero characters from the film “The Avengers” and surprised Steven R. McQueen while he was filming scenes as Jeremy Gilbert in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 6, episode 14 titled “Stay.” Executive producer Julie Plec gave speech about Steven R. McQueen’s journey in the CW TV series.

The TVD cast and crew members expressed their love and support for the 26-year-old actor even though he is leaving the show for a new chapter in his life and career. According to a Just Jared Jr. report, the TVD family also gave Steven R. McQueen a cool going-away cake during their surprise party.

During his speech, Steven R. McQueen thanked the TVD family for their love and support. The time came for their group picture to be taken and co-star Ian Somerhalder, who portrays Damon Salvatore in the CW TV series, decided to add fun by pushing Steven R. McQueen’s face on the cake.

Steven R. McQueen continued to express gratitude to his “The Vampire Diaries” family on Twitter. “Thx to the #TVD cast & crew for this amazing surprise!” the actor posted on his Twitter account @McQueeninchains on Friday, Feb. 13, as a caption to the shared video. The TVD fans witnessed how Jeremy Gilbert transformed from a scrawny and troubled teen into a fit vampire hunter. In “The Vampire Diaries” Season 6, episode 14 titled “Stay,” Jeremy spent his last day in Mystic Falls saying goodbye to his friends and sister, Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev), before heading to an art school in Santa Fe.

However, the episode ended with a surprise twist on Jeremy Gilbert’s exit. The TVD character will be embarking on a journey as a vampire hunter outside of his hometown and the only person who knows about it is none other than Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis).

With that surprise twist, the TVD fans can still see actor Steven R. McQueen make a guest appearance in the CW TV series. “The Vampire Diaries” Season 6 airs on Thursday nights at 8/7c on the CW Network.
