According to reports, a UFO was spotted flying over Elkins, a city in Randolph County in West Virginia, on Sept. 25. The UFO was triangular in shape and seemed to have cloaked itself. Witnesses produced a detailed report of their sighting to Mutual Unidentified Flying Object Network or MUFON.

The witnesses reported seeing two bright orange lights in the sky. The man and his wife were driving south out of Elkins on Beverly Pike when they spotted the object. The UFO seemed to be flying low in the sky observed the witnesses.

They stated the light on the right of the UFO was higher than the one on the left. Due to this, they said it seemed like the object had just changed direction or was banking from a western direction to a northern direction.

The curious couple moved closer to the object to get a better view. They observed that as they moved towards it, the light got closer to them as well. They also noticed a third dim white light in front of the object and this formed a triangle of lights with the two orange circles to the rear side of the object. The witness described the object in their report, "As we got closer I noticed the orange lights were hourglass-shaped. Last night was very clear and devoid of any cloud cover. This made it possible to discern the shape of the object was indeed a triangle, flat black in color, reflecting no light."

Since Elkins has a population of 7,094, the witness stated the unidentified object could have been spotted by many others as well. The area has a huge shopping centre and several neighbourhoods, and the object travelled directly over this place and hovered there for a while. The witness stopped at the Ford dealership to observe it; the object slowly passed by as they stood watching it move.

It was slower than a small Cessna and flew at a low altitude. The object was low enough to have been noticed by many, they said in their report submitted to the MUFON.

The altitude the object was at would have been slightly lower than an aeroplane that is about to land, they reported. It seemed to be travelling at a speed of 30 to 40 knots. It was very huge, and its wings were around 100 yards. It flew parallel over the five-lane on the Wal-Mart side of the highway travelling south on Beverly Pike between 8:35 and 8:40 pm. According to the witnesses, anyone travelling south on the Beverly Pike would have seen the object.

The man added he was well aware of general aviation and military aircrafts and believed this was neither an aeroplane nor a military aircraft. There were no control surfaces, canopy, windows or any other feature but just a flat black surface with two orange lights and one white light that was dim. The object did not move away. It just disappeared as if it was using a cloaking device, he said. After it was gone, all they could see were the stars in the sky.

This is not the first time a triangular UFO has been spotted in West Virginia. Examiner reported a similar case in which witnesses had reported seeing a triangular UFO at the capital Charleston on June 2013.

West Virginia has currently 5 UFO alert rating with a number of recent reports nationally. It is the 42nd state to report UFO sightings. In August 2014, three sightings were reported, while California has recorded 99 cases, which is the highest number of sightings.

The report by the witnesses is recorded in the MUFON database, and it is presently investigating the case. An illustration drawn by the witness of the UFO can be viewed here.
