Ferne McCann has always been criticized for her looks, particularly her nose. She has endured cruel comments about the way she looks. But this time when she received crude remarks about her nose by twitter trolls, she decided to stand up for herself and speak up. Daily Mail reported that McCann did so by channelling role model Barbra Streisand. In her photoshoot with Now Magazine she looks somewhat like the singer Barbra Streisand.

In her interview she said that since young she used to be highly conscious about the way she looked. From the age of 17 to 20 she would always make appointments for a nose job, but back out at the last moment. She even stated that she would drag her boy friend Charlie Sims along too.

She revealed that there was always a constant comparison with other women she would see. "I compare myself to other women all the time. People have called my nose disgusting. It's really hurtful."

She had always faced negative remarks about her nose. She said that people would always comment and mock her and this was something she had to deal with throughout her career. But drawing from Barbra she said that she is her role model, though she was criticized about her looks, she never condemned herself but always embraced herself. "'Barbra never changed herself for anyone and neither will I," she said. "I love women who come out saying: Screw you, this is how I look -- either like it or lump it."

The ITV2 reality star, who first appeared in TOWIE in 2013 said that she loves herself despite her flaws and she accepts them. She said that she is happy to show the world that she does not care.

A research on body image showed that eight out of ten women are dissatisfied with their looks and find faults with their reflection. The study stated that this is due to the society set standard of beauty and those who do not internalize these standards have a positive body image, which is a must for a positive life.

McCann sent out a message to a lot of people who have problems with their body and self image, to never change or criticize oneself to fit into what others call "beautiful" or to fit into the society at large. At the same time she gave out the message of love towards oneself, to embrace yourself just the way you are.
