Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is receiving the Download Booster and Kids Mode features from T-Mobile's official firmware update. It runs the N900TUVUDNE6 build version which ports the two exclusive features from Galaxy S5.

T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 Update

Users of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 T-Mobile variant can now enjoy two exclusive features found on Galaxy S5 via official firmware update. It contains the necessary files to enable the Download Booster and Kids Mode features.

According to Phone Arena, T-Mobile's new firmware has the build version N900TUVUVCNB4 that adds the said features from Galaxy S5 but retains the Android version. With this new update, it is expected that Samsung will enable the same add-ons for other Galaxy Note 3 models worldwide.

Download Booster

Some network carriers in the United States removed the exclusive Download Booster on the Galaxy S5 due to its effect on using mobile data connection on top of Wi-Fi. Basically, the feature allows faster download by simultaneously utilising both mobile data and Wi-Fi to download large files online.

1. Usable for Wi-Fi and 4G-LTE Internet connection speed to download large files.

2. Faster compared to Wi-Fi or 4G-LTE connection alone.

3. It does not affect streaming of music and video files. Streaming will only use Wi-Fi or mobile data connection, whatever is available.

4. Approximate increase of 80 to 90 per cent network speed of Wi-Fi and 4G-LTE.

5. Large difference between Wi-Fi and 4G-LTE speed will negate the benefits of the booster.

6. Speed is subject to the file server, locale, router and network provider.

7. Cannot be used with 3G, HSPA or HSPA+ mobile data connections due to slower speed compared with 4G-LTE.

Kids Mode

Galaxy Note 3 users can now make the device child friendly and safe for parents as the feature changes the overall user interface while protecting private contents. Moreover, it prevents possible havoc caused by kids after performing unfamiliar commands such as deleting apps and files that may put the device into a weird state.

1. Limits the functions and apps kids can access.

2. Implements the parental control in a safe and friendly manner.

3. Works like a sandbox in a separated environment such as providing a separate gallery for kids.

4. Access to five attractive apps for kids - camera, drawing, karaoke, gallery and video player.

5. Camera modes for kids to play with that add photo effects such as eyes, glasses, moustaches, eyebrows and noses.

6. New Kids Store provided free or paid apps for kids.

7. Works compatible with Private Mode for sensitive photos and data stored on the device.

8. Only intended for kids, not for teens as bypassing Kids Mode may be familiar to them.

9. Friendly to both parents and kids.
