Reports that Tim Neff was involved in “Grand Theft Auto 6” have been denied by the actor. His alleged CV appeared to suggest he was working on the sequel, triggering excitement among fans who were led to believe that the LA-based actor was doing motion capture work on “GTA 6,”a game that does not officially exist yet.

The anticipation spread like wildfire across the internet. However, some fans were left disappointed when the actor tweeted that the CV was not his, and it was not appropriate to suggest he is working on the title.

“It seems I'm being trolled online really badly,” the actor told PC Games N. He has apologised for the confusion.

The resume also mentions his work in “Red Dead Redemption 2," a game revealed this year. It is expected to come out sometime around the middle of next year. However, Neff suggested he did not work on the game either.

'Grand Theft Auto 6' release date

He said he had worked on “GTA 5” in the past, but he did not even have an account on the site where the resume was found. Since the CV had been discovered, claims that the game could be coming sooner than expected went out, given that motion capture tends to be a relatively late part of the game design process.

Techradar previously reported that developer Rockstar had begun work on the latest version of the game. But Rockstar Games has not officially announced a new "Grand Theft Auto" game.

If there will be another "Grand Theft Auto" game, how it will be called is not known yet. According to Business Insider, it is likely to continue being open-world, and it's likely to be set in the modern era. The game’s setting could possibly be in a huge city like New York or Los Angeles.

Rockstar Games is yet to comment on the news as well as reveal the “Grand Theft Auto 6” release date. The last instalment had shipped more than 70 million units as of November last year after it was launched in September 2013. Several game franchises never reach such number of units sold.

The game continues to prove its popularity despite being released four years ago. It was the best-selling physical title in the first half of 2017.
