The mid-season finale episode of "Supernatural" Season 10 briefly remembered Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester's (Jensen Ackles) dad, John, when the two shared a childhood memory to Castiel (Misha Collins). The latest speculation claims the character could return based on the recent developments both on and off the screen.

According to a Hypable report, there appears to be a couple of hints on actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan's return as John Winchester in the CW TV series and the timing is interesting. The mid-season finale episode titled "The Things We Left Behind" had Sam and Dean sharing to Castiel a story from their childhood where their father, John Winchester, tracked down a young Dean in a club.

The report further revealed that "Supernatural" cast members Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles confirmed at the "Salute to Supernatural Burbank" convention earlier this 2014 that actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be making an appearance at the Las Vegas convention in 2015. In an Entertainment Weekly interview back in 2012, actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan admitted that he would love to return to the show.

"Yes, I would go back if they asked me. My stance always is I would love to come back," Morgan shared. The actor explained that he would like to come back to set the record straight when it comes to being described as a "bad dad" and resolve a couple of "Supernatural" storylines.

After helping his sons fight off the yellow-eyed demon named Azazel in "Supernatural" Season 2 finale, John Winchester no longer appeared in the series but the fans still heard his voice or the character being mentioned in "Supernatural" Season 4, 5, 9 and 10 or seeing a younger version of John Winchester in "Supernatural" Season 4 and 5. There is a possibility that the fans can learn more about the character in the upcoming episodes of "Supernatural" Season 10 or see John Winchester even in flashback scenes.

However, Jeffrey Dean Morgan thinks John Winchester's return will never happen. "I'm not that bad of a dad. I saved my kids. I went to hell to save my kids. How bad can I be, people? They're family, so it'd be fun to go back. But I don't think it will ever happen," Morgan stated.

"Supernatural" Season 10 is scheduled to return on Jan. 20, 2015 with episode 10 titled "The Hunter Games" at 9 p.m. ET on the CW Network.
