‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star Peter Andre turns up late to turn on Christmas lights

Fans of “Strictly Come Dancing” contestant Peter Andre, 42, had to wait for him to switch on the Christmas lights at the Trafford Centre in Manchester recently. The Australian singer-songwriter turned up late because his helicopter could not fly him from London due to bad weather.
Andre was set to perform five songs 15 minutes before his schedule to switch the Christmas lights, according to Manchester Evening News. He showed up one hour after the schedule and performed his hit song “Mysterious Girl,” which was from his second studio album titled “Natural.”
Aside from “Mysterious Girl,” Andre also performed four songs from the 11 tracks of his 10th studio album titled “Come Fly With Me,” which was released on Oct. 16. The album is also his second swing album after the release of “Big Night” on May 26, 2014.
During the event, Andre told the audience that he is looking forward to a relaxing Christmas, which for him is all about family, food and “the odd pressie.” He also talked about his scores from “Strictly Come Dancing” judges.
“We’ve had 7s and 8s so I can’t complain,” Chester Chronicle quoted Andre as saying. “It means there’s room to grow but there’s also room to fall so let’s hope I go up and not down.”
The event was attended by around 7,000 fans, who were treated to a firework display outside the shopping centre after Andre’s performance.
Andre was not the only performer during the event. Before the “Strictly Come Dancing” contestant turned up, former Westlife singer Markus Feehily performed some of his hit songs. Other performers were the Coca Cola choir, girl band Stooshe, Snoopy, Charlie Brown and “Jersey Boys” star Matt Corner.
Key 103 Breakfast DJs Mike Toolan and Chelsea Norris hosted the Christmas lights switch-on. There was also an after-party hosted by Key 103 DJ Alex James.
