The whereabouts of the Millennium Falcon following the events of “Return of the Jedi” will be revealed in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” According to a report, when Han Solo and Chewbacca first make their appearance in the film they will not be in possession of the ship. Instead, another person has been piloting the Falcon in their absence. [Spoiler Alert]

Star Wars Underworld claimed “Heroes” star and J.J. Abrams best friend, Greg Gunberg, was cast to play as the “current owner” of the Millennium Falcon in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Starwars7news.com likewise said Gunberg’s still unknown character will probably be introduced as the new co-pilot before Han Solo and Chewbacca finally arrives to claim their throne in the cockpit.

Starwars7news further cited what Chris Lee previously hinted about Greg Gunberg’s role in the film. During a discussion about his plan to make a life-sized replica of the Millennium Falcon, Lee revealed that the actor visited their booth at a convention where he shared some details about his role in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

The actor reportedly didn’t outright reveal his character’s name but supposedly dropped some hints, which Lee and his team figured out afterwards. According to Lee, Gunberg’s character “spends a significant amount of time in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon.” The site further speculated that Greg Gunberg’s character may have already been piloting the Millennium Falcon before Han Solo makes his "Chewie, we're home" dialogue seen in the trailer.

Greg Gunberg previously revealed some details about his role in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” during a guest appearance at Nerdist’s Chewin’ It podcast. Starwars7news has listed down what the actor had said about his character in the film. Greg Gunberg hinted he has a big role since he admitted filming for seven weeks in London at Pinewood. He admitted that his character will not be in CG, has no facial hair, does not have any prosthetics but is accompanied by an action figure. Gunberg also revealed that he has signed on for three more “Star Wars” movies.

According to the site, Gunberg may have a major role to play in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” considering his “Star Wars” contract. But whether he is the current owner of the Millennium Falcon is still up for discovery until the movie comes out on Dec 18, 2015.
