“Star Trek Discovery” has found its Spock for season 2. Actor Ethan Peck has been cast in the iconic role, and he has met with the surviving members of the Nimoy family. Peck has released a picture of this meeting online, and expressed gratitude for being chosen to play this fan favourite character.

Ethan Peck is the grandson of Gregory Peck, who has been the lead actor in movies like “To Kill a Mockingbird” and “The Guns of Navarone.” According to a report by Variety, Executive Producer Alex Kurtzman has confirmed that the young actor has been cast as Mr. Spock in the Sci-Fi TV series.

Mr. Spock is a famous character from the original trilogy, played by Leonard Nimoy. The character was later played by Zachary Quinto in the reboot. The character is the son of a Vulcan father and a human mother. He was an officer on the ship USS Enterprise.

The USS Enterprise was teased in the finale episode of the first season of “Star Trek Discovery.” Spock’s connection to the new TV series is through Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green), who is his foster sister.

The first trailer of the next season has teased that Spock isn’t on his ship, and he may need help. So, fans will have to wait a while before seeing Peck as the iconic character.

Peck is a Hollywood veteran who has been a part of several big budget movies and TV shows. His projects include “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” “In Time” and “Nothing Left to Fear.”

Mr. Spock has always struggled between logic and emotion, being a child of two different worlds. Talking about the casting for this character, Kurtzman said that they searched for months to find an actor who can bring his own interpretation to the character. Spock’s greatest qualities, apart from logic, are empathy, intuition, compassion, confusion and yearning, according to the producer. Peck apparently showed all these qualities.
