Gamers who missed Christmas and Boxing Day deals might still be thinking on which gaming console to buy. Both Sony and Microsoft have announced great lineups of games in 2016, but in a recent announcement, PlayStation Executive Shuhei Yoshida showed off PlayStation’s strength for the upcoming year.

The coming year is projected as a year where many big games are coming to PS4. In an interview published by Dualshockers, Yoshida was quoted as being very positive in seeing 2016 as a year of major titles for the PS4. According to the report, Sony is expecting big achievements next year.

However, apart from the release of many PS4 exclusive titles that include “Street Fighter V,” “The Last Guardian,” “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” and “Horizon: Zero Dawn,” the PlayStation VR release is also a significant event planned for 2016.

“2016 marks an unprecedented rush of big titles for PS4. It’s also the year of the long-awaited launch of PlayStation VR. It’s the year PS4 users and those who are on the fence on whether to buy it will absolutely think it’s good to have a PS4," said Yoshida in an interview with 4Gamer.

PlayStation VR is a much awaited product from Sony. In many events, Sony has exhibited a demo of PlayStation VR but a large number of PlayStation fans have yet to experience its virtual reality solution. Sony PlayStation VR will soon join the bandwagon with headsets like Oculus and HTC.

The launch of the PlayStation VR, together with some big titles that include exclusive and multiplatform games, will make gamers think that 2016 is a good year to buy the PS4. Still, nobody can dismiss the fact that 2016 is considered to be the year with major releases on other platforms too.

Many exclusive titles for Xbox One are also scheduled for launch in the upcoming year. A list of upcoming Xbox One exclusive games published by the CheatSheet suggests that 2016 will be bringing “Quantum Break,” “Gears of War 4,” “Fable Legends” and “Recore” to Xbox One and the games are highly anticipated.
