New proof via XDA Developers Forum revealed that owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 can still get the taste of Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. Modified firmware version of Android 5.0 has been made available for the Exynos variant of Galaxy S3 which can be installed manually.

Android 5.0 Lollipop For Samsung Galaxy S3 Has Been Made Possible

Senior member arter97 at XDA Developer Forum posted the unofficial Android 5.0 Lollipop firmware version for the Exynos model of Samsung Galaxy S3. It is based on the Android Open Source Project or AOSP version of the latest Android 5.0 OS which can be installed manually on the smartphone.

Owners planning to manually upgrade the Samsung Galaxy S3 must be warned that doing so may damage the device if done improperly. Developers claim no responsibility for what could happen on the Galaxy S3 such as damaged SD cards and bricked software. Here is the list of functions that are still not working on the current version of the AOSP build version:

- Radio

- Camera

- Sensors

- Internal and external storages

- Wi-Fi

- GPS

- Graphics-related effects such as colour calibration and HW composer

- Screen-off without the ability to enter sleep mode

- Several force close issues

Early build of this customised ROM remains under heavy development and progress but everyone with enough knowledge on Android software development are encourages to work on the project. Click here to view the files and installation instructions at the official XDA thread.
