High school senior Danielle Jennette of King's Fort High School swim team in Suffolk, Virginia asked Ryan Lochte to be her prom date. Sadly, the Olympic medalist swimmer turned down the invitation due to his busy training schedule but sent the hopeful teenager a dozen roses with a special note.

Ryan Lochte's note to Danielle Jennette reads: "Hi Danielle: I'm sorry I can't make it to your prom. Your support for Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy means a lot to me, so thank you from the bottom of my heart. Good luck in your meets and maybe I'll see you at the next Olympic Games! ;) -Ryan."

Danielle Jennette created the Twitter account @ryanlochteprom, the Facebook page "Ryan Lochte will you go to prom with me?" and a YouTube video with the high hopes that swimming champion Ryan Lochte will say yes and attend the prom with her. The senior student even began fundraising for the charity "Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy" which Ryan Lochte sponsors.

Danielle Jennette aims to raise an amount of $2,013 which is the scheduled year of her senior prom. So far, she has already collected $300. "My swim team is going to do a fundraiser. We're going to raise more money for that charity. So even if Ryan doesn't go to prom with me, we'll still raise money for charity. It will be an amazing experience," Jennette stated.

People initially did not consider Danielle Jennette's social networking plea to be something serious. However, Danielle started to grab attention when the Suffolk News Herald covered a story about her charitable campaign.

"When the first article came out from the Suffolk News Herald, that's when it started to escalate. My coach thought it was crazy. My parents thought it was crazy. My friends thought it was crazy. Now they are thinking, 'Wow, this could actually happen'," Jennette shared.

Danielle Jennette has always looked up to Ryan Lochte as her swimming idol. "I didn't know much about the Olympics. I saw Ryan swim and I just thought he was fast. After I saw him swim, I said, 'Man, what an inspiration. It's amazing he can swim that fast'," Jennette further revealed.

Meanwhile, Ryan Lochte has been really busy with his training schedule and other commitments such as his upcoming show on E! "I am so excited about my new show and even more excited I can finally talk about it! Swimming is still my focus. Training for Rio is my priority, that won't change. This is just another way for me to connect with my fans, who were the driving force behind the show, and follow me as I prep for the 2016 Games," Lochte declared.
