When the Xperia Z3 was showcased in IFA Berlin it was understood that Sony will push the sales of the Xperia Z2 before the release of Xperia Z3. But it is surprising to note that the Xperia Z2 was also launched in January 2014.

Sony has gone ahead and reduced the price of Xperia Z2 by $200. According to Android Headlines the website that reports Android news stated that the existing price of the Xperia Z2 is $749.99 and now it was reduced to $579.99. The differences between both these phones are almost minimal and to get the Xperia Z2 for the slashed price is rather a big discount. The phone was released back in January and in July it saw the price come down by $50 but that was not a big discount when compared to the price that is offered today.

The Xperia Z2 offers a 5.2 inches full HD display with a 1,920 x 1,080p resolution of 424 ppi. It also comes with a 3 GB of RAM and a Quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor that clocks at 2.3 GHz.

Sony has always had the best in cameras the Z2 also sports an excellent camera. The rear facing camera is 20.7 mega pixels and the front camera is 2.2 mega pixels. Regarding the storage it has a storage capacity of 16 GB with extendable storage up to 128 GB. This smartphone is dust and waterproof up to 30 minutes under water and a power packed battery of 3,100 mAh and runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The Sony Xperia Z2 is available in purple and white and comes unlocked out of the box including carrier free.

Android Headlines also state that the price cut could be because the Xperia Z3 is nearing its release in the U.S. But there is not much information regarding when the Xperia Z3 will be available in the U.S. However, the drop in the price of the flagship phone by 25 per cent is an indicator that Sony wants its stock cleared.
