Dre (Rotimi) will go on the offensive in “Power” season 5 episode 2. A promo video of the next episode shows a new gang war. Meanwhile, the case on Ray Ray’s (Marcus Callender) murder will take the prosecutors closer to Ghost (Omari Hardwick).

A preview video posted on YouTube shows Dre getting his crew together to go on a killing spree. He wants to make sure these murders are clean, and they don’t trace back to him.

Executive Producer Courtney A. Kemp pointed out that Dre is a street guy, and this makes him a difficult target to kill, especially for people like Ghost and Kanan (50 Cent). Kemp revealed that there was a version of the script that had Dre get killed in a shootout in the premiere episode. However, after a lot of discussion it was decided to make the character’s arc about how he becomes Ghost 2.0.

What will now be interesting is to watch the relationship between Dre and Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.). Kemp explained that Tariq still doesn’t understand that Dre is not his friend and that he got played.

Tariq is still a boy, but he thinks that he’s a man. He continues to make mistake by siding with Dre rather than his family. Kemp said that even though the audience will be angry with Dre for doing this, the boy has already been through the worst and will continue down this dark path. He has already seen the murder of his sister, which happened because of him, and now he is dealing with it in the best way he knows how.

Meanwhile, the prosecutors will continue to pursue the case against Ghost. According to the plot synopsis of the episode the prosecutors will also discuss ending Angela’s (Lela Loren) career because of her proximity to James.
