Australian skipper Ricky Ponting could be facing some disciplinary actions following the reported smashing of LCD television screen found inside the dressing room of the Australian cricket team in India.

Ponting had reportedly broken the screen with his gloves after he was run-out in Monday’s World cup victory over Zimbabwe, according to Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA). GCA said Skysports.com oversees the game now held in Ahmedabad, India.

As reported earlier by IBTimes the incident came when Australia’s cricket team captain was run out on 28 by a direct hit from Chris Mpofu in the Group A class against Zimbabwe.

“We reported the incident to the BCCI yesterday. They must have lodged an official protest with the ICC,” GCA secretary, Rajesh Patel was quoted saying by the sports website.

The GCA official then described the physical condition of the damaged silent victim of the attack.

He said, “Ponting did throw his gloves at the television. You can’t see any damage from outside but when you switch it on, there is no picture on three fourths of the screen.”

A different picture however was painted of the incident by Australian team spokesman, Lachy Patterson.

Patterson said, “Ricky threw his box (groin protector) into his bag and it flew up into a TV set. It wasn’t smashed. There was a small blackout on one corner of the screen. It was still working when (it was replaced)”.

Whatever strokes used to paint the damaged TV screen, the International Cricket Council is sure someone had to be held accountable over the incident.

The spokesman from the ICC had only one sure thing to say: “Ricky Ponting is being charged.. there will be a charge”.

The sports website also noted that ICC official confirmed Ponting will be informed of their actions when the Australian team arrive in Nagpur for their next match Wednesday.
