OnePlus fans just got their hands on the newly launched OnePlus 2, and now the company’s co-founder, Carl Pei, has revealed that the China-based company is working on its third phone, which is expected to be released on Christmas this year. One Plus launched the OnePlus 2 smartphone on July 28.

In an interview with USA Today, Pei discussed about OnePlus' journey, the future plans of the company and why he snubbed the idea of including NFC in the latest OnePlus 2. However, he did not share any clue about the specifications that could be incorporated in the company’s next smartphone. Besides that, information on the price range of the smartphone was also not shared.

Pei told USA Today, “ It may or may not be (higher spec'd than the OnePlus 2).” He assured that the upcoming phone will be “amazing,” but he did not reveal further details about the upcoming product.

In relation to the NFC feature in the OnePlus 2, Pei explained that it was not included because there are very few NFC users, so the company decided to drop the feature. “I know that Android Pay is coming but all that is in the future. It is going to gain widespread adoption in stores 12-18 months from now. By that time people will have moved on to the next device,” the USA Today quoted Carl Pei.

OnePlus was also developing a fitness tracker, but currently, the smartphone maker has sidelined it, as it reportedly wants to concentrate on making phones.

OnePlus had adopted the “invite system” method to sell the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2. While the company had already sold more than 1.5 million units of OnePlus One, more than one million people requested an invite to purchase the OnePlus 2. OnePlus had branded the Oneplus 2 as the “2016 flagship killer,” which promises it will be better than the flagship devices scheduled to be launched next year, NDTV Gadgets reports.
