With all the buzz Miley Cyrus has created since her racy VMA performance and Justin Bieber’s constant squabbles with paparazzis and club goers, you would think that they could be on top of their game grabbing such media attraction in recent days. But no since they could be eating One Direction’s dust instead, as the English-Irish band nabbed the “most powerful young artists” by Billboard’s 21 Under 21.

One Direction has been named Billboard.com’s 2013 edition of 21 Under 21, the list that ranks the most powerful artists below 21 in the music scene. According to E!, Onesies have received the title based on their success in 2012.

Since hitting the U.S. market two years ago, 1D has become a household name, no doubt.

The group’s fans may have helped them propel to international superstardom but One Direction has proven they have what it takes to succeed in the music industry.

Their second studio album “Take Me Home,” (2012) topped the charts not only in the U.S. and the United Kingdom but in 33 other countries, even more worldwide. And following the success of their first album, “Up All Night,” (2011), One Direction became the first UK band in history to have their first two albums, in two consecutive years to have topped the Billboard 200.

The year, 2013 has been good for One Direction, too. The group had listed 6 songs in the Billboard 100, the most any other group had placed in the chart that all came out strong. Not to mention the immense success of their 3-D concert flick, “This is Us.” The film has been recorded, earning more than $62-M as of today.

One Direction began to make a noise during their success of the "The X-Factor" UK. Though they were third in the final, they began to make the airwaves with tremendous success. Their first single, “Forever Young” was leaked online. The song could have been released as their first official song had it not made to the web before it was even launched and if they won UK’s “X-Factor” edition.

Meanwhile, as One Direction continues to prove that they have no way but up, the group’s contemporaries including Canadian teen sensation, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande are all struggling to receive the same accolade.

One Direction snatched the title from Justin who placed No. 2 at the Billboard 21 Under 21 list. Critics claim that the negative publicities hounding his career and personal life could be attributed as primary reason for not making the top rank, despite solid rankings in terms of sales and public reception.

Justin’s “Believe Acoustic Album” soared to Billboard Top 200, even helping the teen star to break his own record. Justin is the first in the history of music to have five (5) No. 1 albums before the age of 19.

Let’s just hope Biebs will be able to regain stature and claim the record once more after he straighten out his personal life.

Meanwhile, other young artists still continue to make their way to the top ranking of Billboard’s 21 Under 21 List. These include Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande who both have solid fan base.

Miley’s VMA performance fails to land her on top of the list. Even the success of her “We Can’t Stop” hit single didn’t merit her to become one powerful young artist.

The same goes for Ariana Grande. Though this year is better for Ariana even if she landed only on Top 4 of the 21 Under 21 list. The singer didn’t even make to the list last year and being No. 4 is definitely a great ranking for the “The Way” singer.

Rounding up to Top 5 of the list is Earl Sweatshirt while the list’s No. 21 goes to Fifth Harmony, another feather in the cap for Simon Cowell. "The X-Factor" USA judge had facilitated the formation of the girl group for the UK’s edition of the reality show. “
