Dr. Whale will return in “Once Upon A time” Season 6, the producers of the show have confirmed. The character is one of many familiar faces from the past that the fans will get to see on the show, apart from a host of new characters that are being introduced.

[Spoiler alert]

David Anders will be reprising his role as Dr. Whale in the next season, Entertainment Weekly reports. The character was last seen in an episode in Season 5, in which he helped Zelena (Rebecca Mader) deliver a baby. This time around the character may get to play a slightly more important role.

The main villain of the next season is Mr. Hyde (Sam Witwer). Executive Producer Edward Kitsis teased that the introduction of this storyline means that there is going to be a “mad scientist convention” on the show. Dr. Whale is also known as Victor Frankenstein.

“Let’s just say mad scientists stick together,” Executive Producer and writer Adam Horowitz said.

Will Dr. Whale and Mr. Hyde form an alliance in “Once upon A Time” Season 6? Such a scenario may make things challenging for the heroes, as they already have their hands full with dealing with Mr. Hyde and the return of the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla).

Another big storyline that the show will explore in the next season is that of the mythology of the Savior, which is incidentally the title of the premiere episode. Although Emma (Jennifer Morrison) has been the Savior on the show, the next season will reveal that she isn’t the only one with this responsibility.

Aladdin (Deniz Akdeniz) used to be a Savior, but something happened to him and he is now a shadow of a man he once was. “Once Upon A Time” Season 6 will also introduce other new characters like Morpheus (Giles Matthey) and Count of Monte Cristo (Craig Horner).
