Nissan has recalled nearly 800,000 Rogue SUVs in the U.S. and Canada for a possible fire risk that could be caused by electrical damage.

The recall affects certain 2014 to 2016 Rogue models. Nissan said that a repair for the problem is currently being developed.

The issue with the vehicles stems from an electrical connector for the under-dash harness, which may corrode when water and salt intrude from the driver’s side footwell.

This can cause corrosion in the electrical connector, which may produce a failure in the power window or power seat operation. It could also cause the all-wheel-drive light to illuminate, drain the battery, or ignite a fire due to electrical connector damage.

Rogue owners are expected to be notified by mail by March 2 of the safety risks of the recall. A second notice will be mailed to vehicle owners once a remedy for the safety issue becomes available, Nissan said.

Questions about the recall can be directed to Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669.
