New Zealand Prime Minister John Key’s son has announced the launch of his career as a DJ, and things didn’t go all well, thanks to online trolls. Max Key and his friend Joshua Troskie opened a Facebook account earlier this week, and were promptly bombarded with posts from critics of the PM.

On Monday, Max and Joshua opened the TROSKEY Facebook account, and have posted their professional photo together as a DJ duo. Apart from some warm welcome from the community, the pair got quite a few criticisms, not for their skills, but for Max being his father’s son.

“We will sign you if your dad steps down as PM. For real,” MUZAI Records wrote, which was “liked” by hundreds of people.

“These guys have nearly 1000 likes because one of them is the PM”s son? Nothing means anything, why f------ well bother ... *throws away turntables in a huff*,” a Facebook user wrote. The TROSKEY page has over 1,100 likes as of the time of writing.

There are some who agreed with the naysayers, questioning whether Max got help from his father in starting his DJ career. Other critics insisted that after listening to the duo’s sample music, they truly thought they were just mediocre.

“Your music is s---, just like your dads (sic) efforts at being a politician,” another one wrote.

They also have defenders, who berated the critics for punishing the son for the father’s so-called mistakes. Their allies blasted the detractors for their unfair assessment, more particularly MUZAI Records for their “bullying” tactic. Perhaps without meaning to, Max and Joshua started fierce debates on their Facebook page just by creating an account.

The aspiring DJs however, have so far ignored their critics. They wrote a gratitude post for their supporters, however, simply telling them, “Thanks for everyone’s support, and a special shout out to the boys helping us along the way.”
