“Narcos,” a “Breaking Bad” type of TV series, has been gaining mass audience since its release on Netflix in September last year. And it looks like the series is here to stay. With more people getting addicted to the American crime thriller drama, two new seasons have been confirmed recently. It has been alleged “Narcos” season 3 will debut no later than August or September 2017.

What is 'Narcos' all about?

The series delves into the life and crimes of Pablo Escobar (Juan Murcia), a Colombian drug lord, who becomes a billionaire through production and distribution of cocaine. Pablo’s elaborate interactions with other drug lords, DEA agents and various opposition entities make the Netflix drama more worth the watch.

With 20 episodes in total, season 1 and 2 have been mostly about the drug kingpin, Pablo Escobar. However, “Narcos” season 3 will have a different take on how the series proceeds. Multiple reports have cited that the series’ third instalment could feature Pablo’s death. It could mainly be the reason why the upcoming season is going to focus more on the Cali Cartel than the notorious kingpin himself.

For starters, the Cali Cartel is also a drug cartel led by Jose Santacruz Londonio. He is also known as "Chepe." His brothers, who too are a part of the cartel, include Gilberto and Miguel Rodriguez Orejuela.

The Cali came into being Cartel after Helmer Herrera/Pacho (Alberto Ammann), walked out of Pablo’s cartel to join the infamous Jose Santacruz Londonio and his nut-job brothers. The series feature more of the Cali Cartel could also mean there will be a lot of new faces this time in the upcoming "Narcos" season 3.

Meanwhile, actor Boyd Holbrook (Steve Murphy) won’t be reprising his role. The same has been confirmed in a recent interview promoting upcoming film “Logan.” “It’s shooting right now actually, but not with me. I’m not in it,” Holbrook said when asked about his future prospects with “Narcos.”

The third season will also be featuring Mexican drug lord Joaquin Guzman, also known as "El Chapo." There will be a detailed run-down of the Mexicans’ involvement in the cocaine industry. That being said, it has yet to be revealed as to who will play “El Chapo’s” role in “Narcos” season 3.

Production of the series is currently underway. Netflix has not yet announced when “Narcos” season 3 will hit the streaming service. “Narcos” season 1 and season 2 are available on Netfix for online streaming.
