Miley Cyrus has experienced what could be the worst gift for her birthday from robbers who sneaked into her house the day before she turned 21.

Los Angeles Police Officer Rosario Herrera told CNN that the burglary was reported Friday at around 4:30 p.m. at her residence in Studio City. The homeowner told the police that some personal items were stolen.

Police reported there was no one in the house when the burglary occured. There was no forced entry reported nor suspects seen around the house before the crime.

The police declined to identify the homeowner, but they provided the address of the house where the burglary occured.

Journalists identified the address of Cyrus who is celebrating her 21st birthday the day after.

As of press time, the police is investigating further the incident.

E! Online, meanwhile, suspected that the birthday girl may not be around the house because she was busy gearing up for the American Music Awards last Sunday. She also spent her actual birthday at the rehearsals for the awards night, where she performed her hit song, 'Wrecking Ball.'

Sources also told E! Online that Cyrus was "taming the shock factor" this time around, and that there will be "no nudity, no wrecking ball and no licking of sledgehammers," things which were prominent in the music video of the song.

The sources also added that she will also be wearing something, and that "weird images" will be projected behind her as she performs.

But Cyrus will still be celebrating her birthday with a party hosted by Jeff Beacher at his Hollywood theater.

In August, she made news when she introduced the 'twerk' when she performed alongside Robin Thicke during the MTV Video Music Awards. Earlier this month, she almost went into trouble with Dutch authorities after she smoked inside the venue of the MTV Europe Music Awards in Amsterdam.
