The infamous creature of Scotland, the Loch Ness Monster, has been sighted on a satellite image of Apple Maps. It roughly measures 100 ft in length, floating under the surface of a large freshwater loch in the Scottish Highlands in North End of Loch Ness.

Loch Ness Monster Says 'Hi' to Apple Maps

Apple has been doing several improvements to its mapping software after the apps' official launch in September 2012 which caused major issues to users. However, the improvements seem to have been favoured by a mysterious creature popping out of the satellite imagery.

The infamous and mysterious Loch Ness monster, which measures roughly 100 ft or 30 m, turned up for Apple Maps. This mysterious creature also called "Nessie" showed up on the imaging of the software which also captured some interesting details regarding its appearance.

The image has been found on one of last year's collection and describes the Loch Ness monster swimming just below the surface of the water. The Apple Maps-exclusive photo capture stirred hopes for fans about the real existence of the creature.

True or Fake?

Since the satellite was not focusing on the mysterious object floating on the waters, the Loch Ness monster will require further imaging from any usable mapping software.

"The interesting thing is that nobody has been able to explain what it is. It's pretty large, so it's not a seal or an otter. It's also not a whale or basking shark as some people claim, because they wouldn't go in fresh water," the founder and president of the Official Loch Ness Monster Fan Club, Glen Campbell, told ABC News.

He also pointed out that it may looked like a boat at first, but examining the right side of the image capture, it is noticeable that boats are moored on the shore and do not look similar in terms of shape, size and colour compared to the so-called monster of the Loch.

Andrew Dixon and Peter Thain were the first to flag the photo last year from the smartphone mapping software of Apple which they sent separately to the Nessie Fan Club. The club contains a registry for every Loch Ness monster sighting since 565 A.D., according to Campbell.

Campbell regained inspiration once again after encountering the mysterious image capture. His first claimed personal encounter with the Loch Ness monster was 18 years ago.

"We really have got a mystery, which is great. It keeps us all going here and it's elicited another couple of sightings, which is great as well because it's brought [Nessie] back into the forefront of the public imagination," Campbell said.

As for Apple Maps, the sighting of this mysterious Scottish creature put the software back into the news. It is better compared to embarrassing incidents complained by users before.
