Applause could be Lady Gaga's first single from her forthcoming album ARTPOP. Tara Savelo, the pop superstar's make-up artist, has posted a photo of Gaga working on what seems like the artwork for the track.

Savelo captioned the photo "26 days," suggesting that Applause could be the single that the Mother Monster has promised to release on August 19.

ARTPOP is scheduled for release on November 11, but fans can already pre-order copies on September 1, which comes with an accompanying app described as "a musical and visual engineering system that combines music, art, fashion and technology".

Lady Gaga will also host artRave on November 10, the day before ARTPOP's release, which will feature artists like Jeff Koons and Marina Abramovic.

Meanwhile, singer Lana Del Rey allegedly jabs Lady Gaga in leaked song titled "So Legit". The lyrics of the song, targeting the 'Born This Way' singer, go as follows:

Stefani, you suck
I know you're selling twenty million
wish they could have seen you
when we booed you off in Williamsburg.
You're hurt, I know my words don't hurt, yeah
Oh, girl, I see you walking 'round in your pearls
Thinking that you're number one
You're so funny, 'cause honey, you're not

Del Rey and Lady Gaga used to have the same manager Bob Leone. Both singers studied in New York, with Del Rey attending Fordham and Lady Gaga in New York University.
