The 2013 Teen Choice Awards is set to take place on August 11 with the nominees already announced, including heartthrob actor Ian Somerhalder and ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev. The Vampire Diaries star expressed his gratitude in advance to the young fans who voted for him in order to win the Choice TV Actor: Fantasy/Sci-Fi"award for his vampire role in the successful TV series.

The 34-year-old former Lost actor described his young fans as "bad-ass teens" when he shared an image on his Twitter account @iansomerhalder the three Teen Choice Awards surfboard designs with the message that reads: "Damon and I have 3 because you all rock-maybe 4 in a little while if you want :) Not sure when voting ends but I think it's soon - Hopefully see you soon you bad-ass teens. Love, Damon Salvatore& Ian Somerhalder."

Ian will return to the set of the Vampire Diaries and start working for the upcoming fifth season. His commitment and busy work schedule with the CW TV series could reduce his chances of being cast as Christian Grey in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey film.

Ian Somerhalder has been a fan-favourite to portray Christian Grey since the confirmation of the movie project, and the actor has expressed as well his interest to portray the dark billionaire character. However, Ian will be faced with work schedule problems if he gets cast in the upcoming erotic film.

The Vampire Diaries, Season 5 will begin filming mid-July at the set in Atlanta, with the cast and crew working continuously for approximately nine months. With that, Ian Somerhalder will definitely have a hard time balancing his work schedule if he gets cast in the Fifty Shades of Grey film with a release date on August 14, 2014.
