Fans would be distressed to know that “How to Train Your Dragon 3” is delayed. The film’s US release was moved from its original launch date of May 18, 2018 to March 1, 2019. Despite the wait, it seems there is a lot to look forward to in the threequel as there might finally be a confirmation of night furries.

Rotoscopers reported that the movie might finally confirm the existence of Night furies. Night furies are extremely rare and dangerous dragons.

The logline of the film, provided exclusively to Deadline, indicated that Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) will fulfil his dream of creating a peaceful dragon utopia. Meanwhile, Toothless unveils an “untamed, elusive mate” draws the Night Fury away.

The teaser plot for the film has also revealed that Hiccup will now be the leader of the village. “When danger mounts at home and Hiccup’s reign as village chief is tested, both dragon and rider must make impossible decisions to save their kind,” the logline further reads.

“How to Train Your Dragon” follows the story of Hiccup, a 15-year-old son of the village chieftain, Stoick the Vast. He was supposed to fight the dragons but his body was too small to do so. So he instead fashioned mechanical devices to use for battle.

In one of his attacks, Hiccup believes he has shot down a Night Fury. Eventually, he realised that he cannot kill the dragon and instead sets it free. The first film was released in 2010 while the sequel was out in 2014.

The first film has obtained critical acclaim upon its release. Review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes says that 98 percent of critics gave the film a positive review. The first film has become the fifth highest-grossing animated film of 2010 with US$495 million (AU$652 million). The film was also recognised with a Visual Effects Society Award for Outstanding Animated Character in an Animated Feature Motion Picture, Visual Effects Society Award for Outstanding Effects Animation in an Animated Feature Motion Picture and Best Animated Feature at Washington DC Area Film Critics Association Awards among others.

Aside from the provided logline, which has been the first official piece of story detail for the movie, no other key details have been provided about the film. Dean DeBlois, the film series’ director, takes helm of the upcoming film. “How to Train Your Dragon 3” release date in the US is expected to be on March 1, 2019. There is no word confirming a finalised Australian release date. Thereelbits.com listed it as June 21, 2018 prior to the update.
