How 'Game of Thrones' actors say goodbye to characters who just died, according to Natalie Dormer
Original air date on HBO: Sundays at 9 p.m.

“Game of Thrones” (GOT) has a nasty habit of killing off characters just when fans are beginning to love them. Natalie Dormer, who plays the present queen of King’s Landing, Margaery Tyrell, shared their ritual to say goodbye to dying characters on the HBO hit series.
According to Dormer, they did not hold huge farewell parties or prepared beautiful cakes to bid departing cast members. She said that if they did those, they would no longer have time for anything else.
Vanity Fair cites the actress in revealing that the only ritual that the show had involved the character who was going to be killed off, and showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
Dormer explained that dying cast members would normally receive a call from Dan and David. According to her, there is homage paid when the three meet. The actress said that the cast members do not cry when they find out that another one will be leaving the show. Dormer continued that it was better not to feel depressed about anyone exiting. After Jon Snow (Kit Harington) was killed off and then resurrected, every character was a candidate to be the next one to die or brought back to life. She added that it was all she knew about the farewell ritual.
Zap2It notes that fans were also wondering whether Dormer would be killed off soon. In the present season, Margaery spent most of her time in the Sparrows’ dungeon and seemed to have a change of heart. However, she slipped a note to her grandmother, Lady Olenna (Diana Rigg), hinting that she has deeper schemes in place. Going against the Sparrows would certainly put her life in jeopardy. She did not confirm anything about her future on the show since her publicist was present during the Vanity Fair interview.
Kit Harington previously shared that he also had a long walk with the show creators before his character died at the end of Season 5. Hodor (Kristian Nairn), however, did get a goodbye cake.
More updates and details on “Game of Thrones” are expected soon. Season 6 Episode 9, titled "Battle of the Bastards," is set to air on June 19 on HBO. It also airs on Foxtel in Australia.
